Lucky Seven Blogging Fun!

Author Tom Quigley @TQuigley_Writer sent me this interesting challenge on Twitter.  Lucky 7 is meant to be a fun exchange between indie authors. I've personally never done anything like this before, so here goes and I hope I've done  it correctly - hope the instructions haven't got all messed-up like a game of Chinese Whispers!

The rules:
Go to page 7 or 77 of your current manuscript.
Go to line 7.
Post on your blog the next 7 lines, or sentences as they are - no cheating!
Tag 7 other authors to do the same.

Here is my seven line extract from page 7 of Roadrage (coming out shortly)

... Somehow the situation had Spike caught in its grip too. He was rushing to and fro, barking with unaccustomed ferocity, one second at the windscreen, the next at the passenger window. Uncontrollable frenzy had seized the moment and the deafening noise coming from the dog provided an aptly manic soundtrack.
The milometer needle passed eighty, eighty-five, ninety. At each of these stages Gil looked across his shoulder to see if his pursuer had given up. There was no change. Ninety-five, a hundred, a hundred and five; his persecutor was right beside him. Gil was beginning to feel a loss of control in the steering as the wheels found it increasingly difficult to gain purchase on the wet surface ...

Finally, I have to pass Lucky Seven on to seven more authors (I hope they'll appreciate the gesture!)

The next seven are:
K J Waters  @kamajowa
Clive S. Johnson  @Clive_SJohnson
Kelly @caillte_inion
S.L.Pierce @piercebooks
Jane Isaac @JaneIsaacAuthor
Barbara Towle @BarbaraTowle
Cheryl Youngman @CherylYoungman

Good luck to all!

Hi M J. I'm going to post my lucky 7 here. I've done a round a few weeks back (wonder if we're in the same chain!), so I won't post again on my blog or choose 7 friends, but after reading your 7 lines, which were wonderful and tense and well-written, I just had to post mine, too, because...our manuscripts share the same name!

These 7 sentences are from page 77 of my manuscript, Road Rage, which is soon to be completed (really, I am really going to finish this ms soon...):

She might not be dead, but she wasn’t truly alive either.

He’d learned something, but at what cost? He had been such a fool to encourage DG to eat when he didn’t know who or even what she was or what harm it might cause her. He might have caused her unspeakable harm. He might have killed her.

The bathroom fell silent. Derek’s heartbeat thundered in his ears.

Thanks for posting #Lucky7, Martin, your own contribution really added value to the effort! I loved the imagery of Spike in a frenzy as Gil put the pedal to the floor! BTW, dont forget to share the book club's review of N&H when you get sight of it! Best regards, Tom
